Even though Boulder City is built within a dry desert landscape, weeds can grow quickly when dormant seeds receive moisture from seasonal rain, irrigation runoff, overwatered landscaping, or shaded areas around buildings. Rock yards, paver joints, turf edges, curb lines, sidewalks, parking areas, and commercial hardscape areas can all give weeds enough space to take hold, especially after winter rain or monsoon moisture.
Common weed problems in the Boulder City area include fast-growing broadleaf weeds, desert mustard/London rocket, puncturevine/goatheads, thistle, dandelion, nutsedge, invasive Bermuda grass, and palm seedlings. Once weeds spread, they can make a property look neglected, create HOA or property-management issues, provide hiding areas for pests, and become harder to control if they are allowed to seed and regrow.
