The Oriental Cockroach is endemic to the Crimean Peninsula as well as the surrounding areas of the Caspian and Black Sea's. Through global trade the Oriental Cockroach used shipping containers and the holding decks of ships to spread across the globe. The Life Cycle

The Oriental Cockroach has a lifespan averaging just under a year to about a year. Females give birth to large numbers of nymphs. These nymphs then molt their outer layer at least 4 times until they reach sexual maturity. In a females lifespan she can lay many litters of cockroach nymphs.

Behavior & Personality

Like many other Cockroaches the Oriental Cockroach is a reclusive insect. You usually wont see them during the daytime. The Oriental Cockroach prefers to hide in dark, moist, solitary locations. So if you have any locations in or around your home, be aware what they might attract.

Season and Times Most Active

The Oriental Cockroach is nocturnal, similar to other cockroaches in the Las Vegas area. They also are more likely to be found indoors during times of extreme temperature spikes, such as heat waves and winter months.

The Oriental Cockroach prefers solitary, dark, moist locations. So places like basements, under sinks, and bathroom cabinets. These cockroaches are generally outdoor scavengers, however they will go wherever necessary for food.
