Las Vegas bed bugs are extremely common. The high traffic areas and warm weather can bring these guys in, but do not worry. Let's address this problem together.

As their name suggests, bed bugs are often found on or around mattresses and box springs. Las Vegas can be a hotspot for bed bugs as they like high-traffic areas with lots of furniture (such as our hotels and resorts)

Yup, we sure do.

Bedbugs in Las Vegas measure just 5 millimeters across, but they should not be underestimated. These bugs are smart, tough, and the worst part - they reproduce rapidly. No surprise that these tiny bloodsuckers can wreak a lot of havoc in your Las Vegas home. No need to panic, we’ll work through this together.

Identification of Bed Bugs

If you’ve got bedbugs, you want to find them early before they start to reproduce. It’s much easier—and cheaper—to treat a small infestation than a big one. The smaller infestations can be harder to detect and may require a professional, but the money it saves in the long run is worth it. When finding a potential bed bug you should thoroughly inspect

  • Near the tags of the mattress and box spring
  • In cracks in the bed frame and headboard
  • In baseboards
  • Between couch cushions
  • In furniture joints
  • Inside electrical outlets
  • Under loose wallpaper
  • Underneath paintings and posters on the walls
  • In the seam where the wallpaper and ceiling meet

Use a flashlight and/or magnifying glass to go over all of these areas.

If you find any of the following, it’s likely a trace of bed bugs.

  • Reddish and about ¼-inch long
  • Dark spots about the size of a period (bed bug droppings)
  • Reddish stains on your mattress
  • Small, pale yellow eggs, egg shells, and yellowish skins

Next, we have to contain the infestation

Once you know you have bed bugs, you need to keep them contained so you can get rid of them. Seal up all your linens and affected clothes in plastic bags until you can wash them. Then put them on the highest possible temperature setting in the washer and dryer. If an item can’t be washed, put it in the dryer for 30 minutes at the highest heat setting. If they’ve gotten in your furniture, it’s likely you’ll have to throw the furniture away.

We suggest contacting Fortified Pest Management in order to minimize the things you may have to throw away or get rid of. This is how Las Vegas bed bugs can cause thousands of dollars worth of damage.
